Ritchie Gonzalez

I am a family man at heart and a successful businessman by trade, living the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu lifestyle. I am happily married with two children. Both my kids started training BJJ at a young age. I have been involved in the healthcare industry, serving the elderly since 2001.

I currently own Heatherwood Memory Care, an assisted living facility in Walnut Creek, CA and East Bay Professional Caregivers, a staffing agency serving the East Bay area. I am also the founder of the Bright Future Foundation based in the Philippines. It is a non profit organization that helps support poor children with their school needs.

I began my BJJ journey in 2011 when my son enrolled at the Darcio Lira school in Pleasanton, CA. In 2012, I decided to join the team with the sole purpose of learning some techniques to help my son improve his skills at home. I later on found myself volunteering regularly to help Master Darlynson Lira teach some of the classes. This eventually led me to become an official instructor. Every BJJ practitioner has a purpose. Some might want to be a world champion, while others just want to stay in shape.

I am passionate about teaching. My purpose is to help students find success in life through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I truly believe that the mindset and discipline I acquired from the Darcio Lira BJJ system significantly helped me achieve both my personal and professional goals. For this, I will be forever grateful.
